This one takes a cold machine cycle and a line dry. The silk one wants hand washing, an enzyme-free detergent and shade drying, and it will not forgive being treated like a towelling robe.\n\nBuy the silk one if it is a gift or an occasion\n\nSilk breathes, softens with wear and ages well. If the robe is going to be worn on a handful of mornings and kept for a decade, that is where the money goes.\n\nCheck the belt and the pockets\n\nThis one has both, and the belt adjusts. A robe without pockets is a costume, and a belt that only threads through the side seams goes missing.\n\nWashing it\n\nMachine wash cold on a gentle cycle, on its own for the first wash. No bleach.
